Rep. Miller Says The University of Illinois Should Focus on Education, Not ‘All-Ages’ Drag Shows

Hindsboro, IL…The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign recently hosted an ‘All-Ages’ drag show at its publicly funded Spurlock Museum and encouraged all children and families to attend. The university is backing the event despite public backlash and said the event was designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says taxpayer-funded universities such as the University of Illinois have an obligation to educate and not promote perverted ideologies.

“The radical left continues to target our children with perverted programs and then blame Washington for cutting funding to public universities who refuse to follow federal laws.” Miller said. “It’s outrageous to me that the state of Illinois is focused more on indoctrination of our children than to teach them about rewarding educational programs that sets them up for success in life.”

The event was promoted across campus as an opportunity to enjoy tea, lemonade, sweet treats, British tea culture, drag performances, and private guided museum tours to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride.

State Representative Chris Miller is leading efforts to protect women’s sports as the Chief Sponsor of HB 2823, a bill that creates the Gender in Sports Act. He also Co-Sponsors HB 4482, a bill that would prohibit gender reassignment procedures for minors in the state of Illinois.
