Rep. Miller Offers Support to Families Impacted by Storms in Central Illinois

Hindsboro, IL…State Representatives Chris Miller is reminding residents to prioritize safety and avoid downed power lines, debris, and other hazardous areas as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
The storms, which included tornado activity across Central and Southern Illinois, caused significant damage to homes, businesses, farms, and infrastructure, along with downed trees and power lines. Thousands of customers across the region were left without power.
“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the Charleston community impacted by the devastating tornado damage,” Miller said. “The damage is significant, but thankfully no lives were lost. We will work together to rebuild our community, with neighbors helping neighbors. I want to thank the first responders, volunteers, and community members who are stepping up to help put our community back together.”
According to the Effingham County Emergency Management Agency, an “impactful tornado” traveled approximately 12-15 miles through the northern part of the county, causing damage to multiple residences, businesses, and farms. Some injuries were reported, though none were serious.
Across the region, the extent of damage remains under assessment. It is reported that there were at least seven tornadoes during the weather event, which left 55,000 customers without power in Illinois at the height of the storm.

“JB Pritzker gaslights the citizens of Illinois and continues to drive costs up for working families by supporting progressive policies,” said Miller. “Every year he gives money to illegal immigrants while families and businesses flee to greener pastures. The citizens of Illinois are fed up with Pritzker’s lies, and they want to live in a state that prioritizes citizens over illegal immigrants.”
Gov. Pritzker Just Signed A Record-High Budget
And he’s proud of this?
The budget passed at 4:13 a.m. on June 1, and some of the funding for this obscene spending spree includes:
- Corporate tax hikes
- Social media fees
- Digital asset taxes
- Decoupling from the federal Qualified Small Business Stock Exclusion
- Taxes on ‘fantasy contests’
- A ‘Targeted Advertising Services’ tax
- Fund sweeps
How bad do things have to get before Illinoisans stop electing negligent and reckless people who don’t know how to run a government and have no regard for other peoples’ hard-earned money and well-being?

And there are hundreds of millions going to politically connected NGOS. A Total Waste of Money.

Lawmaker says Pritzker reacted too quickly to Grant Park cross burning
(The Center Square) – Illinois state Rep. Chris Miller says Gov. J.B. Pritzker should address the political motivations behind a Grant Park cross burning after the University of Illinois Chicago student accused in the incident said it was intended as a protest against the Trump administration.
Pritzker condemned the June 10 incident on social media after reports emerged that a burning cross had been found in Chicago’s Grant Park.
“Let me be clear that hate has no home here in Illinois,” Pritzker wrote. “This symbol has one purpose: to stir up intimidation and terror. We will not be silent — those responsible must be held accountable”
Authorities later identified 21-year-old University of Illinois Chicago student Merlin Lu as the person responsible.
Lu told media outlets he placed a red MAGA-style hat on top of the cross before setting it ablaze as a protest against what he described as “MAGA Christian nationalist” politics. He said he was unaware of the historical racial significance associated with cross burnings and insisted the demonstration was not racially motivated.
“I look forward to J.B. Pritzker holding Merlin Lu accountable for MAGA hate because MAGA hate shouldn’t have a home here in Illinois, right?” Miller said.
Miller argued that the student’s actions were influenced by political rhetoric directed at President Donald Trump and his supporters.
“Obviously, this wasn’t intended to be a hate crime. This was politically motivated, and it’s all the direct result of the dangerous rhetoric that’s been spewed by these people,” Miller said.
The Republican lawmaker also blamed what he described as ideological influences on college campuses, saying young people are often more susceptible to political activism because of their lack of life experience.
Asked whether Pritzker should specifically condemn the anti-Trump message behind the protest, Miller said, “I think it’s a no-brainer,” arguing the governor reacted before all the facts surrounding the incident were known.

Illinois Public Schools’ Enrollment Drop Is 4th Worst In The Nation

The state’s public schools are losing students faster than nearly every other state in the country, they are receiving more money than nearly every other state in the country, and their educational results are stunningly abysmal at best.
This article details the nationwide enrollment statistics:

While the entire Illinois public school system is in a downward, unsustainable death spiral, it’s no wonder that harmful, dishonest policies like these are pushing parents even further to the brink, and they are going elsewhere to get a quality education for their children:
Another Burdensome Snare For Employers?

Illinois Senate Bill 3777 is known as the Civil Rights Safeguard Act, and it could affect how hiring practices are scrutinized under Illinois law. If signed into law by Governor Pritzker, its implications could extend far beyond the state.
It is already illegal to intentionally discriminate against protected groups during the hiring process, but essentially this bill would shift attention from individual hiring decisions to the hiring frameworks employers use to make those decisions, such as employment screening, criminal history evaluations, and the growing use of artificial intelligence and other technology-driven tools.
Rather than focusing on whether an employer intended to discriminate, this bill addresses what is referred to as ‘disparate impact’ which means that it would have to be examined whether or not a policy or practice disproportionately affects members of a protected group.
Employers could potentially have to spend countless amounts money and time in the court system to defend challenges made against them under this type of vague and arbitrary analysis. It remains to be seen how this law would be administered in a way that would safeguard it from frivolous abuses.
Proof that it is already difficult enough to conduct business in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Employment Security recently announced that the state’s unemployment rate currently remains unchanged at 5.1%.

Democrats’ Priority: Punish Cops, Not Criminals
Police misconduct must be taken seriously, but it’s hard to believe that punishing police before criminals is not part of a purely political agenda when that’s where a vast amount of Illinois’ resources are being directed.
For example, just 6 months into the year, Chicago has spent more than $225 MILLION to resolve police misconduct lawsuits.
The city set aside just $82.5 million in its 2026 budget, but it authorized officials to borrow an additional $283.3 million to cover the soaring cost of the lawsuits being brought against police officers.
At a time when Democrats are bending over backwards to coddle criminals (if they arrest them at all) and hamstring police, we are all being put in harm’s way.
