We were in Springfield last week for the beginning of spring session. Illinois Democrats spent the week complaining about President Trump and giving themselves credit for destroying opportunity in our great state.
Last week is yet another example of why Springfield earned it’s name as the bad idea factory.
We wasted thousands of dollars last week on just per diems and travel for the politicians.
The first thing they did was pass a resolution congratulating Speaker Chris Welch on his five years of Speakership. Chris Welch has done for the businesses, citizens, or families in Illinois.

State Rep. Chris Miller Slams Illinois Democrats Over Their Anti-Police Bill
Illinois Democrats recently filed legislation to ban former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers hired during President Donald Trump’s administration from being hired as local police officers. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says Democrats in Illinois’ anti-police rhetoric emboldens criminals and is a slap in the face to the men and women who protect our communities.
“Once again, the very people who take an oath to protect our communities from dangerous criminals are being attacked by the radical Democrats in Illinois,” Miller said. “This bill is nothing more than a political stunt to undermine the duties of federal officers who risk their lives to protect American citizens. Pritzker started the dangerous rhetoric that is spreading hate against ICE and local police officers, and Democrats in the legislature are taking it to the next level. I stand with our law enforcement at the federal, state, and local level and strongly oppose this garbage.”
SB2820 creates the Prohibited Hiring of Federal Immigration Officers Act. The bill states that law enforcement agencies are prohibited from hiring former ICE officers who were hired from January 20, 2025 through January 20, 2029 – a direct target at those who worked for President Trump.
Paradise For Criminals
Governor Pritzker is once again putting criminals ahead of law-abiding Illinois citizens. He recently signed the ‘Clean Slate Act’ making it easier for convicts to get past hiring filters and find jobs in the state.
The new law will require eligible records to be sealed by 2029, but many businesses use background checks in their hiring process, and this new law will make that filter less effective.
Pritzker and his Party have a long history of siding with criminals, including cashless bail (signed into law under the SAFE-T Act) and hamstringing federal law enforcement (prohibiting them from conducting operations near courthouses, hospitals, university campuses and day-care centers)… Read more
Democrats Detest Accountability
Unless you mess with their political agenda- then, justified or not, you’re fair game.
As disgraced journalist Don Lemon scampered off with not so much as a slap on the wrist for storming a church service alongside ICE protesters, conservative journalist Kaitlin Bennett was slapped with a federal crime and fined for the so-called ‘offense’ of questioning Democrats on public property.

Meanwhile, Chicago man Juan Espinoza Martinez was recently found not guilty by a unanimous jury for planning a murder-for-hire plot targeting Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino. He even admitted to posting a Snapchat message with Bovino’s picture which read, “2K on info when they catch him. 10-k if you take him down”.

Insane Democrat Policies Are Draining Illinois
An American Community Survey and a recent report released by the U.S. Census Bureau estimate that 82,900 Illinoisans left the state last year alone. 95% of them went to states with lower taxes.
Why don’t Pritzker and his Supermajority Democrats get it??
Their debilitating tax policies have included, just to name a few, the highest property taxes in the country, the 7th highest sales taxes and the largest permanent rate income tax hike passed in state history (in 2017).
Now they are pushing to raise income taxes even further to include retirees?

More Democrat ICE Drama
Illinois Democrats have initiated a full-scale smack down on federal law enforcement by introducing House Resolution 622 which calls for an independent investigation into U.S. Department of Homeland Security-involved shootings, killings and deaths in custody, as well as the appointment of independent counsel to prosecute agents, administrators, and political appointees found to have committed, directed or covered up such acts. It also calls for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s immediate resignation and her impeachment if she refuses to resign.

Also in play, politically motivated United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, Laura McNally, granted several motions by plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit demanding that the feds provide data on illegal immigrants’ arrests and detentions. The suit was filed late last year by the American Civil Liberties Union and the MacArthur Justice Center against several of the Trump administration’s top immigration officials, including Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and top Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino (whose life, not insignificantly, was recently threatened, and the murder-for-hire suspect was unanimously let off by a Chicago jury- see WGN TV link in above post).
Did You Feel It?
Early last week, a small earthquake shook Central Illinois. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the magnitude 3.8 quake struck about 3 miles north-northeast of Ohlman and was felt across parts of Christian and Sangamon counties. USGS data also showed that the earthquake occurred very close to the surface which can make even small quakes more noticeable.
