Rep. Miller Issues Statement After Illinois Democrats Pass Another Green Energy Scam
Springfield, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) slammed Illinois House Democrats for passing a Green New Energy giveaway bill that will raise rates on Illinois families and businesses. Senate Bill 25 passed through the House with a roll call of 70-37 with all Republicans voting no.
“Illinois baseload generation has been gutted because of radical policies and fantasies that have destroyed supply and demand,” said Miller. “Our state had stable, reliable, and cheap energy but those days are long gone because of the policies that continue to chase a green fantasy. Families and businesses are already paying extremely high prices for energy and now the Democrats have turned a new page of screwing consumers over with more energy scams.”
SB25 was met with plenty of opposition for many reasons including concerns over property rights. This bill removes further local control for renewable project siting and reduces the permit fees that counties may charge for renewable projects. Furthermore, it does not allow local counties to zone battery projects.
Miller continued, “This isn’t an energy bill; it’s an environmental giveaway that gives power to unelected bureaucrats to raise energy rates in the future and believe me they will. Small businesses this past summer saw their electricity rates double and triple from last summer. Now, these lunatics are mandating more green scams that are forcing companies to close their doors and letting other companies know not to do business in the state of Illinois. One thing is clear, Pritzker and the Democrats don’t care about Illinois citizens.”
