President Trump Directs U.S. Military to Bomb Iranian Nuclear Sites

I don’t often weigh in on international affairs, but the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday should not go without mention, especially as Governor Pritzker and other Illinois politicians are weighing in on the action.
I applaud and support President Trump’s leadership in dealing with Iranian intransigence on making a deal on halting their nuclear ambitions. If past presidential decisions to bomb various countries are any precedent, then President Trump was well within his authority to take action against Iran. In fact, a number of presidents have taken significant military action against less dangerous states to U.S. and international safety without getting authorization from Congress. Reagan against Libya, Clinton against Kosovo, and Obama and Biden against Syria, are such actions, just to name a few.

In light of the action taken, Gov. Pritzker put out this post stating that he is in contact with law enforcement about security threats in Illinois.
Pritzker knows, but doesn’t want to discuss potential terrorist sleeper cells that may be present in America. There is concern that a number of the got-aways from Biden’s open border may be Iranian terrorists or terrorists for hire that may take action against Americans on our homeland.
It is very concerning that Pritzker doesn’t identify where the threats may come from, how they got here, and why he wasn’t concerned about open borders before. His statement is more about his quest to look presidential than to reassure the populace.
Some Illinois Congressmen are weighing in on bombing. Sean Casten has outrageously called for President Trump’s impeachment. Chuy Garcia has said Trump is trying to lead us into an illegal war. Raja Krishnamoorthi who is planning on running for U.S. Senate has shockingly said nothing.
I pray for the safety of all U.S. personnel in the region, our allies, and our leaders. I also pray for an immediate cessation of hostilities and mutual agreements between nations that lead to a lasting peace.
Rivian Importing Foreign Labor

This should boil your blood. After accepting a deal to take $827 million in Illinois tax subsidies, we now find out that Rivian is taking in foreign labor.
Diane Benjamin posted the information and background at her website BLN News. In her report she notes that:
“Rivian Automotive, Llc filed 2,009 labor condition applications (LCAs) for H-1B visas and 399 labor certifications (LCs) for green cards during fiscal years 2022 – 2024. Rivian Automotive was ranked number 63 among all visa sponsors. Additionally, 18 LCAs and 3 LCs were denied or withdrawn during the same period.”
The Rivian plant is just about an hour away from one of the nation’s top engineering schools, the University of Illinois, so an inability to find qualified talent in the U.S., or more specifically in Illinois, is completely false.

SCOTUS Ruling Upholding TN Ban on “Transgender” Procedures for Minors has Implications for Illinois Under Pritzker

Last week the US Supreme Court ruled that Tennessee’s ban on transgender procedures for minors can stand. The ruling has likely far-reaching ramifications that will impact not just medical and pharmaceutical interventions, but also state policies regarding integrating private spaces and sports.
This article by Laurie Higgins gives a good overview of what is potentially at stake.
Illinois will likely become a travel destination for parents wanting to “Trans” their children. As the Chicago Tribune reported,
“The state has shield laws for patients seeking gender affirming care and doctors who provide it. Illinois’ Human Rights Act also prohibits discrimination based on gender identity, said Michelle García, ACLU Illinois deputy legal director. “Come to Illinois,” García said. “We will protect you.”
However, access to these procedures could be limited. Crains’ Chicago Business wrote,
“An increase in out-of-state traffic for transgender health care could come at a bad time for Planned Parenthood of Illinois.
The reproductive health care organization provides gender-affirming hormone therapy to transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive people age 16 and up.
The organization says it welcomes everyone “regardless of your ZIP code” and offers to help with travel arrangements to it 13 locations for both Illinois and out-of-state residents.
However, Illinois’ largest abortion care provider faces a financial shortfall stemming from rising patient volume and growing health care costs, due in part to out-of-state abortion-seeking patients.
In January the provider said it would close four Illinois health centers, in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, Ottawa, Decatur and Bloomington, and was downsizing its administrative staff.”
On Ethics – The Democrats Fail Again

The News-Gazette reported that “Democratic Senate President Don Harmon asked members of the House and Senate to bail him out of a possible $9.8 million fine imposed by the Illinois State Board of Elections for campaign-finance violations. He wanted legislators to rewrite a law he allegedly violated — and apply it retroactively — to make what he did pass legal muster.”
Harmon is the middle of the investigation for having taking excess campaign contributions and as that investigation continues, he attempted to use his powerful position as Senate President to insert language in another bill that would have retroactively made the excess contributions legal.
Harmon is also the same person who openly flaunted Senate rules that a bill must be read on three different days before passage. He admitted that they were only reading the “title” of an empty bill that was going to be used for the 3,363-page budget bill in order to technically comply with the Senate rule. Harmon learned well from Mike Madigan, his long-time mentor, now sentenced to 7.5 years in jail.
Pritzker’s Testimony to Congress Was Embarrassing for Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, IL…Governor JB Pritzker testified in the U.S. House Oversight Committee about Illinois’ failed immigration policies that leave taxpayers footing the bill for a myriad of services for illegal immigrants. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says the Governor’s testimony was embarrassing to the State of Illinois.
“Under JB Pritzker’s radical reign, Illinois has become the go-to destination for illegal immigrants, where they receive free food, free housing, free healthcare, and more – all on the taxpayer’s dime,” said Miller. “His failed leadership was on full display in Washington D.C. and he showcased to every state in the nation on how radical policies destroy the lives of working families.”
Illinois taxpayers have spent over $3 billion on illegal immigrants since 2022, not including education costs or other various services. Illinois Democrats continue to raise taxes to foot the bill for government-funded handouts for illegal immigrants. There are at least 530,000 illegal immigrants who are in Illinois, which costs Illinois taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars each year.
“I’m fighting back against the radical Democrats who are destroying our state and putting Illinois citizens last,” Miller continued. “JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson keep recklessly inviting unvetted, illegal immigrants to our state. I pledge to my constituents I will always support policies that benefit Illinois citizens and not illegal immigrants. It’s embarrassing that Pritzker is running around the country campaigning for President while Illinois is financially and morally broke. Families and businesses are leaving this state in droves because of bad policies. Pritzker is definitely not ready for prime time.”
Toward a more perfect Union

This year the nation begins its celebration of our 250th birthday, building up to the July 4, 2026, commemoration of the semi-quincentennial of the Declaration of Independence.
The celebration marks not only the gathering of 56 Founders at Independence Hall, but also the progression of American history, from a small experiment in self-government, to the large and powerful democratic republic that we are today.
It marks the proud history of our great nation, and the shameful events we have overcome as well.
A document reflective of those contradictions is on display in Springfield this week as part of the America 250 celebration.
Eleven years after the Declaration of Independence, the Founders gathered again in Philadelphia to draft the structure of a new government to rule the United States.
The Constitution they produced was a blueprint for a lasting government and also a statement of the nation’s ideals and aspirations. It included a phrase right at the top which seemed to suggest that while the Founders sought to establish the best system of government they could, there would always be room for improvement: “…in order to form a more perfect Union.”
