The radical Democrats want homeschool parents to think HB2827 would only require a “form” to submit, but that’s a complete lie. The truth is that this bill will strip freedoms away from homeschool parents and force parents to follow Rep. Terra Costa Howard’s rules or face jail time and/or fines. The bill is garbage and every homeschool parent should know exactly what this piece of legislation would do if passed into law. I want my constituents to know I stand with them in opposition and will vote NO to this bill if called!

- Failing to file the form carries jail time.
- An “education portfolio” can be demanded at any time from homeschool families, allowing government abuse of power.

- The bill isn’t clear on how the regulate on would be enforced, creating substantial legal questions.
- The regulations would eat into education funding or other resources.
- The bill also regulates private schools.
- The bill creates a registry of residents’ religions.
- The bill has generated historic opposition.

Miller Doubles Down on “Homeschool Act”
SPRINGFIELD, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says the “Homeschool Act”, HB 2827, infringes on the freedoms that homeschool parents deserve. Although the bill passed through committee, it has not yet been called for a vote in the House and continues to make national headlines. Miller says radical Democrats target homeschool families but turn a blind eye to illegal criminals in our communities.
“Over 51,000 witness slips are filed in opposition to this bill, and that number represents thousands of Illinois families who don’t want state government in their personal lives,” said Miller. “This bill creates state oversight to collect data from personal decisions made by homeschool parents, yet they continue to ignore the billions of taxpayer dollars being wasted on services for illegal immigrants.” Read more…
