Illinois State Board of Education Releases 2024 School Report Card
Annually, at the end of October, ISBE releases updated school data on enrollment, spending, proficiency, graduation rates and much more.
Above is a screenshot of Charleston CUSD 1 Academic Proficiency. It shows in grades 3-8, only 35% of the students are at grade level in English Language Arts and only 16% are at grade level in Math.
We have work to do.
Overall, statewide proficiency in younger grades improved over last year, however, Math proficiency is still lower than pre-pandemic scores. Statewide enrollment is down since 2015 and flat since last year even as English language learners increased year over year by 1.8 percentage points. For older students who took the SAT, scores declined statewide.

Kirchner Building Centers New Corporate Headquarters in Charleston
Today, State Representative Chris Miller joined the community in Charleston to celebrate Kirchner Building Centers new corporate headquarters. The company was founded in 1906 starting as a retail lumber company. Since then, Kirchner Building Centers has expanded and has thirteen locations in East Central Illinois, Southern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky.

Governor Pritzker likes to avoid talking about the reality of our illegal immigration crisis. When our governor is forced to answer questions and concerns, he perpetually lies! What we do know to be true is more crime is occurring, taxpayers are being taken advantage of, and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. This ongoing designed crisis is causing havoc across cities, specifically Chicago.
Democrats Bank on Abortion As Their ‘Winning’ Strategy
Following Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris’ lead, Governor Pritzker continued pushing abortion as a priority ahead of the 2024 election. This is one of the Illinois Democrat Supermajority’s only claims to fame.

Instead of being able to talk about what they have done to lift people up, (ANYTHING…anything at all??), they can only brag about death, destruction and insane taxes. They sell the abortion LIE to ‘win’ power for themselves, and the losers are the babies and their parents who will live with the heartbreaking consequences of this morbid and immoral public policy for the rest of their lives.
Illinois Has a Glut Of LOCAL Governing Bodies
The focus of the 2024 election has primarily been on the presidential race and other high level public offices in play. But don’t ignore your local elections this year- or ANY year! These elected officials are equally capable of corruption, deception and grotesque, out of control spending with zero results.
From school boards to county officials to park districts and forest preserves, there are plenty of opportunities for self-serving, taxpayer-milking individuals to seek power and wreak havoc on your local communities.

Federal Law Enforcement Agencies Should Not Be Used As Weapons
Regardless of the election results, the American people need to demand that the agencies which were created to protect the PEOPLE be held accountable for the responsibilities they were intended to carry out. Going rogue is not an option. These agencies include (at minimum) the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Expolsives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
An argument can be solidly made that higher standards also need to be held for other departments of power such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Attorneys General at every level and politically motivated judges and courts- just to name a few.
If they ALL cannot be reined in, they should be abolished altogether, and we should start anew.

It’s Daylight Savings!
At least we ‘gain’ an hour in the Fall, but even dogs and babies can get confused this time of year. Especially with the actual daylight changing.
