The Teachers’ Union Boot Is on Illinois’ Neck
As Democrat Illinois lawmakers continue to reject school choice for the state’s families and their children, the Illinois Freedom Caucus is calling for a new rule that would ban Republicans from accepting teachers’ union campaign contributions.
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is one of several teachers’ unions who played a significant role in influencing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on school reopening guidance during the COVID pandemic, and the consequences were highly detrimental to our nation’s children.
‘School Choice Is Racist!’
Says Chicago Teachers Union’s (CTU) president Stacy Davis-Gates, who prefers private school for one of her children to the loser public schools she gets paid A LOT of money to promote.
In addition to being the CTU president, she is vice president of the American Federation of Teachers and executive vice president of the Illinois Federation of Teachers.
She is at the tip of the spear to kill the only school choice Illinois families have- the Invest In Kids Act.
In her own words, her hypocrisy and divisive identity politics were on full display when she said,
“We are concerned about the encroachment of fascists in Chicago. We are concerned about the marginalization of public education through the eyes of those who’ve never intended for Black people to be educated.”
There are Great Teachers in Illinois!
So please recognize them in both small and big ways

1st Place Isn’t Always a Good Thing
For four years in a row, Illinois topped the list of states whose residents were fleeing in droves. According to a recent Allied Van Lines report, our state occupied the #1 spot in 2022.
yay.
Analysts at Allied reported that Illinoisans left for states that were more affordable and offered better financial security.
Surprise, surprise.
Illinois Is Leading the Pack
With yet another unenviable distinction- the hardest hit state in the country with 61% of its small businesses losing revenues this past August.
Business owners say that interest rate hikes, inflation and a drop in consumer spending are all contributing factors. The most affected industries are gyms, beauty salons and education.
The hostile business environment in Illinois is undoubtedly to blame as well.

Clean Up In Aisle Corruption
In the wake of the corruption scandals involving former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, his chief of staff Tim Mapes and utility company Commonwealth Edison, Republicans are calling for stronger ethics reform.
This is bound to be a hot topic during the Illinois General Assembly’s upcoming Fall Veto Session, and legislation has already been introduced that would end the practice of allowing criminally accused elected officials of using campaign funds for their criminal defense.
Even former Democrat governor Pat Quinn asked Governor Pritzker, Senate President Don Harmon (D-Oak Park) and House Speaker Chris Welch (D-Hillside) to call a special session to address the corruption in Illinois, but they essentially ignored him.
