Miller Demands Action After 9-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Assaulted by Illegal Immigrant in Kane County
HINDSBORO, IL…Following the arrest of a Venezuelan illegal immigrant accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in Kane County, State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) is renewing his call for the repeal of Illinois’ sanctuary state policies and demanding Governor JB Pritzker prioritize the safety of Illinois families.

“The safety of Illinois families must come before protecting criminal illegal immigrants,” said Miller. “A 9-year-old girl was riding her bike when she was kidnapped and brutally attacked. This child and her family will live with this trauma forever, and Governor Pritzker needs to answer a simple question: How many innocent Illinoisans have to be victimized before he admits his sanctuary policies have failed?”
According to federal authorities, Janio Velasquez Muro, a Venezuelan national who illegally entered the United States in 2022, was arrested in Kane County and faces felony charges including aggravated kidnapping of a child, predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child.
“Federal immigration officials should not have to ask Illinois leaders to cooperate with efforts to remove dangerous criminals from our communities,” Miller continued. “The fact that Illinois’ policies prevent local law enforcement from fully cooperating with federal immigration authorities puts our families at risk. Governor Pritzker must stop putting politics ahead of public safety and repeal the TRUST Act.”
Miller has repeatedly called for changes to Illinois’ sanctuary state laws, arguing that state policies should not prevent law enforcement from working with federal authorities to remove violent criminal offenders.
