Happy Birthday to Mary’s Mother. Who knew 9 decades later, Annette and her husband would have 4 amazing daughters, 15 grandchildren, almost 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson on the way! What a sweet celebration with so many family members there!

According to a new survey released by WalletHub, Illinois has the highest tax rates in the country, including state and local taxes and the highest annual tax rates on median households.

Illinoisans Want Scholarship Opportunities For Students
Governor Pritzker and his Trump-hating party don’t want federal funding for Illinois’ students. But, according to a new poll, more than half of Illinois voters support the state opting into a federal program to let donors help students find extra academic help.
More than half of the states in the country have already committed to opting into the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Program, and Illinois has until January 1 to do the same.
Students in public or private schools can use the scholarship money for educational services such as tutoring, additional educational classes, books or online educational materials, fees for standardized or college admissions exams and fees for dual enrollment.

State representative Laura Faver Dias (D-Grayslake-pictured below) recently introduced the ‘Carryout Bag Reduction Act’ (House Bill 5112) which proposes that businesses charge 10 cents per carryout bag starting in 2027.
Questions for Ms. Dias:
- Who do you think will end up paying for this?
- Where do you get off telling businesses (mostly small) what to charge their customers for?
