I filed HJRCA0023 because every year we waste taxpayer money during veto session to listen to Democrats complain, point fingers, and talk about wonderful Speaker Welch is. The latest veto session, we could have talked about lowering taxes, lowering energy rates, and making Illinois more affordable. Instead, the unhinged Democrats wasted time on attacking President Trump, attacking law enforcement, and adopting House Resolutions that condemn federal policies that are making America safer, richer, and more affordable.
The purpose of a veto session is for legislature to meet specifically to deal with bills that the governor has vetoed or to reconsider bills based on the governor’s reasons for vetoing them. For this reason, I filed HJRCA0023 to hold Democrats accountable for wasting time and money.

Here is what the Democrats were focused on rather than working for the people of Illinois:
HR0624– DJT-ACQUIRING LAND OVERSEAS
This resolution was crafted to attack a “possibility” United States of America acquiring Greenland. Illinois has nothing to do with federal strategies, yet the majority party wasted everyone’s time on the House floor to complain about something that may not even happen.
HR0623– SUSPEND TARIFF SCHEME
According to The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, our country collected approximately $287 billion in customs duties, fees, and taxes- but Illinois Democrats seem to think it’s bad policy so they filed HR0623 to put their feelings on paper.
HR0622– ICE-EXCESSIVE FORCE
Our federal law enforcement officers are risking their lives to keep our communities safe from dangerous criminal illegal immigrants but once again, Illinois Democrats continue to show their TDS and spent hours on the House floor during veto session basically arguing that federal laws should be ignored.
Remember, this is the party of hate and they will always choose illegal immigrants over our law enforcement officers.
HR0620– 2022 HEALTHCARE SUBSIDIES
Subsidized healthcare leads to higher, long-term costs for taxpayers which is why President Trump made policy changes to better serve working families. Illinois Democrats filed HR0620 to reflect their bitterness about federal efforts to help American citizens receive more affordable healthcare.
Illinois’ cost-of-living problem is caused by a cost-of-government problem.
Decades under Democratic rule in Illinois have been marked by higher taxes, increased spending, and policies enacted without regard for their impact on the cost of living.Â
