JB Pritzker announced this week he will be running for a third term because he has work to do. His first statement is an insult to everyone in Illinois and is a complete lie. “Illinois is standing at the center of the fight — the fight to make life more affordable, the fight to protect our freedoms, the fight for common sense.” He has done nothing to make life more affordable. He has destroyed the quality of life for Illinois citizens with his progressive tax hikes and policies that benefit illegal immigrants, not citizens. Energy prices are increasing due to bad policies that cater to wind a solar and the results are higher prices and less grid stability. He is taxing hard working families out of Illinois and could care less as long as his pork projects get funded by taxpayers. This is the same governor who works to strip freedoms from legal gun owners, and he same governor who lives in fantasy land thinking common sense is to put illegals before citizens. Pritzker is guilty of abusing taxpayers to fund his radical agenda and guilty of creating a state of disaster.
State spending under Governor Pritzker has grown exponentially since he took office in 2019. When he took over as Governor, state expenditures were $40.3 billion. Each year since we have seen state spending grow and we now have a budget that is $15 billion higher than when he took office.
The $55.2 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026 is reliant on one-time revenues and a billion dollars in tax hikes and fund sweeps.
This is common sense under JB Pritzker
Cell Phone Tax
Watch your wallets folks. Starting July 1, Democrats’ cell phone service tax hike goes into effect. We already pay the highest wireless taxes in the country and now we’re going to have to pay even more thanks to tax and spend Dems.

Gas Tax
Currently, Illinois residents pay the second-highest gas tax in the country, behind California.
The gas tax is currently 45 cents per gallon, but it will increase to 48.3 cents per gallon on July 1st. Tax on diesel fuel will rise from 54 to 55 cents per gallon.
Other Taxes
The state will impose a tax of $0.25 per sports wager placed beginning on July 1. When 20 million wagers have been placed, that tax will go up to $0.50 per wager,
Short-term rental properties sites like AirBNB and Vrbo will now have to charge their tenants the state’s Hotel Operators’ Occupation Tax, which they had formerly been exempted from paying. That tax comes out to a rate of 6% of 94% of gross receipts for a rental unit, according to the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Tobacco products will also now be taxed at a rate of 45% of their wholesale price, up from 36%.
Governor JB Pritzker and Springfield Democrats floated an idea this past legislative session to add a $1.50 delivery tax to nearly every package shipped to Illinois homes. Luckily, delivery taxes did not receive a vote in the House, but the new tax could still be adopted in veto or special sessions later this year.
Illegal Immigrant Special Treatment
By now, we’ve all become aware of the millions of illegal immigrants that the Biden administration allowed to pour into this country over the last four years. And we’ve all become aware of Pritzker going the extra mile to protect illegal immigrants and to use taxpayer funds to give them everything they need to feel right at home. The radical Democrats’ sanctuary state policy has cost Illinois taxpayers billions and made our communities less safe. With over half-a-million illegal immigrants in Illinois, we should be working with federal authorities to deport dangerous criminal aliens, but Pritzker’s common sense is to help criminals.
The Green Scam
Progressive Democrats in Illinois continue their obsession with solar and wind energy projects despite warnings of rolling blackouts this summer, specifically in the Capital City. It’s cut and dry: energy prices are increasing and grid stability has been damaged by poor policies. The Climate Hoax is driving energy prices up and reliability down in Illinois because we have politicians who care more about their special interest groups rather than the people of Illinois.
“If we have (blackouts), you’ll see significant production gaps,” cautioned Mark Denzler, president and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. “You’ll have increased problems in supply chain and at the end you might have reduced products available to consumers on shelves.”

The quality of life we all enjoy is being downgraded under Pritzker.
Illinois Makes Headlines for ALL the Wrong Reasons
Illinois had 184,000 fewer residents aged 18 and under in 2024 vs 2020. That’s a 6% drop, the biggest percentage loss in the country.
