Rep. Chris Miller Says the Budget is Filled with Gimmicks, More Taxes, and More Spending
Springfield, IL…The new state budget for the FY26 passed the Illinois House of Representatives despite all Republicans voting “no.” The FY 26 budget spends $55.2 billion, nearly $2 billion more than last year. Democrats have turned over unprecedented authority to make spending decisions to Governor Pritzker in this budget. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says the bloated budget reflects unnecessary tax increases and more spending on pork projects.
“This budget is far from balanced, and it’s packed with tax hikes, excessive spending on NGOs and more pork projects for Democrats,” said Miller. “Progressive Democrats have negotiated spending plans behind closed doors, excluded Republican input, and continued to raise taxes on Illinoisans to quench their never-ending thirst to spend more of the taxpayers’ money.”
This year is no different as Illinois residents see increased spending, huge tax hikes, no structural reform, and no transparency. To add insult to taxpayer injury, Democrats are rewarding themselves with a pay raise for politicians and hundreds of millions in pork projects in Democratic districts.
Miller continued, “The citizens of Illinois are fed up with radical policies, being taxed to death, funding illegal immigrants, and they are voting with their feet. To no surprise, Democrats blame Trump for all the failed policies in Illinois that have destroyed opportunity, raised the cost of living, and shackled working families and businesses from getting ahead.”
