Illinois House Conservatives Blast Pritzker for His Reckless Spending Habits

SPRINGFIELD, IL…JB Pritzker is primed to enact the largest budget in state history: $55.2 billion, which is nearly $2 billion more than last year and another record-breaking spending level. Illinois House conservatives blasted the governor for his policies and reckless spending while families are struggling. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says progressive Democrats have created a man-made disaster in Illinois because Pritzker is focused on handouts and abusing taxpayers to fund radical pork projects.

“Illinois is similar to a horror movie stuck on repeat due to an incompetent governor who borrows more money, spends more money, and then shakes taxpayers to get more money,” said Rep. Miller. “Let’s be clear about where much of the wasteful spending has been going: services for illegals, funneling taxpayer dollars to unaccountable NGOs, and propping up the green energy scam, including those costly battery storage projects.”

Illinois House conservatives demand accountability from Pritzker’s policies that are driving families and businesses out of Illinois.

Since Gov. Pritzker took office in 2019, state spending has increased by more than $15 billion, a 38% increase in spending. Last year, House Democrats failed twice to pass a budget and only passed it last year because they changed their own House rules to allow for a third vote. This year, the budget has increased again, yet Illinois citizens are not better off than they were a few years ago.

Miller continued, “Pritzker’s fairytale vision for Illinois has destroyed the quality of life for working families and businesses are strangled by mandates, but illegal immigrants continue to celebrate their taxpayer handouts from Pritzker. If our state wants to compete for business and keep families here, we need to eliminate woke policies, create opportunities based on merit, not DEI policy, and we need to put Illinois citizens first.”
