Miller Doubles Down on “Homeschool Act”
SPRINGFIELD, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says the “Homeschool Act”, HB 2827, infringes on the freedoms that homeschool parents deserve. Although the bill passed through committee, it has not yet been called for a vote in the House and continues to make national headlines. Miller says radical Democrats target homeschool families but turn a blind eye to illegal criminals in our communities.
“Over 51,000 witness slips are filed in opposition to this bill, and that number represents thousands of Illinois families who don’t want state government in their personal lives,” said Miller. “This bill creates state oversight to collect data from personal decisions made by homeschool parents, yet they continue to ignore the billions of taxpayer dollars being wasted on services for illegal immigrants.”
Some Illinois Democrats have been criticized about the integrity of this bill, and it continues to be a hot button topic. House Republicans question the motive behind the bill and have major concerns over loose-end language that will lead to additional mandates.
Miller continued, “I pledge to all Illinois residents I will continue to fight to protect the freedoms of homeschool families across the State of Illinois and will push back against radical legislators and their out-of-touch agenda.”
