Miller Files Bill That Bans State Incentives to Gotion

State Representative Chris Miller filed House Resolution 0960 and says Pritzker must end state incentives going to Gotion. This legislation would ban taxpayer state funds from aiding any corporation owned and operated by a foreign country, including China.

“Our governor is doing more for a foreign company in Illinois that has ties to the Chinese Communist Party than he is for Illinois citizens,” said Miller. “He made a deal that shifts $536 million in taxpayer incentives right into the hands of Chinese stakeholders so he can have his resume stamped with fighting the climate change hoax.”

Gov. Pritzker called concerned critics of the Gotion EV Plant expanding to Illinois, “xenophobes” and “MAGA Republicans.” Current Illinois policies make businesses seek opportunity in other states, so the Governor lures in the Chinese company Gotion on behalf of taxpayer financing.

Furthermore, top-level democrats show deep concerns about the counterintelligence threat to the United States by China. An Illinois Democrat, U.S. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, says “The goal of the CCP has become clear: to displace U.S. and other competitors, especially in tomorrow’s strategic industries.”

This deal is a security threat and was negotiated behind closed doors, with no transparency, and with no local-resident input. Read more…

This helps inform me and other legislators as to where Illinoisans and organizations stand, allowing us to make informed decisions when voting. Learn more…
