Springfield, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says the State of Illinois should not be giving taxpayer subsidies to the Chinese company Gotion. Rep. Miller filed HR960 in response to Pritzker gifting $125 million to Gotion.
“Our governor is doing more for a foreign company in Illinois that has ties to the Chinese Communist Party than he is for Illinois citizens,” said Miller. “He made a deal that shifts $536 million in taxpayer incentives right into the hands of Chinese stakeholders so he can have his resume stamped with fighting the climate change hoax.”
Gotion has raised flags in Michigan and Illinois with their plans to build electric vehicle (EV) battery plants on American soil. The plant in Manteno, Illinois, is facing growing opposition from all sides. Despite high concerns from local residents, Pritzker negotiated a deal behind closed doors, with no transparency, and with no local-resident input.
Miller continued, “This Chinese company poses a national security threat and Pritzker supports their agenda to displace U.S. and other competitors. Our state has no place in helping a foreign company who hates us and seeks to takeover American land and opportunities. I’m calling on Pritzker to stand up for the people of Illinois and to immediately rescind his agreement with Gotion.”
