Rep. Miller Covers Illinois Election Concerns, Fake Meat, and more

Newsletter 9-3-24

WHY???

Illinois Democrats are leading the charge to vaporize the Illinois state flag.

What is actually behind this movement? It can only be reasonably assumed that there are activists in top levels of state government who would like to rewrite Illinois’ history and ‘disguise’ their mission as some kind of creative design competition.

Apparently, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias had nothing more important to do than to create another taxpayer funded entity, The Illinois Flag Commission. It will oversee the Supermajority Dem’s pet project.

One can only guess who is on this ‘commission’ and how much this will cost Illinois taxpayers.

The commission will accept design ideas for consideration from the public until Oct. 18.

Rep. Miller Files Legislation to Ban Cultivated Meat in Illinois

House Bill 5872

Springfield, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) has taken swift action to ban cultivated meat in Illinois by filing House Bill 5872. Growing concerns from the notion of replacing real meat with laboratories to replicate a natural process is the biggest factor. Rep. Miller said the legislation would protect individual’s health, farmland, and agricultural products.

“Agriculture is big business in Illinois, and we don’t need fake meat laboratories creating a highly expensive product that tries to replicate real meat,” said Rep. Miller. “Illinois farmers know what they’re doing, and it they do it well.”

Cultivated meat is produced with animal cells grown in labs with bioreactors. Employees grow sheets of tissue in plastic flasks, called roller bottles, and combine them to create larger pieces of chicken or beef. Opposition to this process is spreading due to safety concerns, high costs, and overall lack of research.

Rep. Miller continued, “The ideology behind cultivating animal cells to improve carbon emissions is mind-blowing. Here in Illinois, farmers work hard to raise cattle and produce some of the finest meat on the market. My legislation would protect farmers and the high-quality products they help produce to feed families across the nation.”

HB 5872 would ban the manufacturing, selling, and distribution of lab-grown meat across the state of Illinois. Anyone who violates this Act would be committing a Class C misdemeanor.

Illinois Has Election Concerns

Some concerns seem fraught with the potential for voter fraud, but others appear to be helpful to voters, yet may have some hidden problems.

Here are the top 3 on the list:

  1. Mail-in voting
  2. Early voting
  3. Non-citizen voting

Carol Davis, with the Illinois Election Integrity Program, lays it all out in this Center Square article:

Who Are You?

Governor J.B. Pritzker recently signed into law the Illinois Democrat Supermajority’s bill (SB1515) that significantly hampers employers’ ability to utilize E-Verify to check the work authorization of their prospective employees. Illinois is only the second state to do so, following California.

Illinois continues to enact legislation that helps illegal immigrants violate the law by not only entering our country and state, but by taking LEGAL jobs away and driving wages down.

E-Verify laws have been proven to work at the federal, state and local levels, and we need to keep advocating for them:

What Are the Deals Being Peddled by Alternative Electricity Suppliers?

A recent Citizens Utility Board (CUB) review of state reports concluded that Illinoisans should be wary of alternative electricity suppliers.

Although ComEd and Ameren deliver electricity to their customers over the power lines they own, under Illinois law, those customers can choose another company to supply the actual electricity.

CUB’s report found that ComEd customers who were with an alternative supplier on average paid about 3 cents per kilowatt-hour more, compared with ComEd’s supply price. Ameren customers paid about 2.4 cents per kWh more.

Another Great Argument for School Choice

Selective enrollment high schools are the most effective schools for black and Hispanic students within the Chicago Public Schools- which is why they are under attack by the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU).

CTU is an utter failure and embarrassment to Illinois because they don’t care about students and teachers- who a pitiful percentage of the teachers’ union dues are actually spent on. Most of the money is spent on political contributions and paying CTU employees six figure salaries.

Chicago’s selective enrollment high schools are beacons of academic hope in the midst of a terribly corrupt and dismal system that is supposed to serve minority students and their families. CTU is fighting these successful high schools because they are WORKING, and they make the public school system look bad.

Read this very informative report from the Illinois Policy Institute, and let’s start calling out the negligent, self-serving bullies in Springfield, the CTU and across the state!
