Springfield, IL…State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) is the Chief Sponsor of Senate Bill 3405 which was recently signed into law. This legislation will help individuals attend problem solving courts and seek the treatment they need to improve their lives.
“We don’t see too many Republican bills get signed into law so I’m happy to see this legislation enacted,” said Rep. Miller. “Substance abuse and PTSD are real issues, and this law will help individuals, especially in rural areas, receive transportation to problem solving courts to secure the help they need to become healthier.”
With the passage of SB3405, counties are allowed to use funds by law or ordinance for transportation purposes to fund rides for individuals who seek professional help from a problem-solving court in Illinois, specifically Coles County.
Rep. Miller continued, “Improving systems that help people in need will strengthen the communities in Illinois. Life is different in rural counties and many people have difficulties finding transportation. This bill aims to help those in need and I’m proud to have been the Chief Sponsor on legislation that will have a positive impact in rural communities.”
SB3405 was signed into law by the Governor on August 9th, 2024.
