Resistance Against Gotion Is Gaining Traction

Gotion, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) battery company that is planning to build a plant in Manteno, Illinois, is facing growing opposition from all sides. Not only are they expecting to receive over $8 billion in federal and state subsidies, their connection to the Chinese Communist Party is becoming undeniable.

Also slated to set up shop in Green Charter Township, Michigan, a panel representing both states convened last week in Michigan to discuss the growing problems that are mounting against Gotion.

Another similarly emerging story worth noting is the aggressive attempt for the Chinese company BYD, (one of the biggest EV manufacturers in the world), to penetrate the United States market by way of Mexico. Stella Li, a top executive for BYD Americas, and the company itself have given tens of thousands of dollars in campaign cash to Democrat candidates and organizations in California and beyond. In January, Congress moved to ban the Pentagon from buying its batteries due to security risks.

And Gotion’s Lawyers had to file an amended FARA statement noting that the company receives money from the Chinese government, which Gotion denied any link to in court filings.

Enough Taxes Already!!

This map reflects figures compiled by WalletHub and illustrates the total tax burden in each state as of March 2024. No surprise, Illinois occupies a spot at the top.  The tax burden measures the percentage of a person’s income that is paid toward state and local taxes such as property, income, sales and excise taxes.

Also, according to WalletHub, Illinois has the second-highest property tax burden in the country with a statewide 2.23% property tax rate when all 102 counties are combined. The obscene property tax situation the Illinois Democrat Supermajority has grossly mismanaged for decades largely contributes to the overall tax burden and is clearly not benefitting the state’s public schools in any way.

The median Illinois homeowner spends more in property taxes than Alabama, West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana and South Carolina combined.

Another Reckless Democrat Move

Without the consequences being thoroughly thought through and debated (as usual), Illinois’ Democrat Supermajority intends to ram through legislation for the sake of ‘convenience’.  State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, carried House Bill 4592, an initiative of the Illinois Secretary of State. The measure would allow the Secretary of State to issue digital ID cards and driver’s licenses that can be stored on someone’s smartphone.

The measure is totally unnecessary, and related security issues could potentially expose citizens to civil liberties violations.https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/illinois-house-advances-measure-opening-door-to-digital-id/ar-BB1mKa8i?apiversion=v2&noservercache=1&domshim=1&renderwebcomponents=1&wcseo=1&batchservertelemetry=1&noservertelemetry=1

Spotlight On Chicago

Have you ever seen the 1998 movie ‘The Truman Show’? Governor JB Pritzker is trying to paint a similar alternate reality for Illinois. But we don’t live on a movie set, and all Democrat National Convention-goers will have to do is step outside the convention hall to see the chaos and disorder of the neighborhood surrounding it. Pritzker Democrats’ mirage is just that- a concocted mirage.
