The Democrats are greedy with power, spending, and raising taxes. It seems to be the same old story in Illinois as high taxes continue to be a burden for working families. It’s not a puzzle on how to reduce taxes, yet Democrats refuse to debate meaningful legislation that would offer tax relief for Illinois families. Republicans have filed several pieces of legislation that bring tax relief to everyone, including senior citizens and veterans. However, the only reason we are not seeing lower taxes is because progressive Democrats have an appetite for raising taxes, chiefly to fund illegal immigrants and their Cadillac healthcare programs.
Republicans know taxpayers in Illinois deserve better from their government and will continue the fight to improve the quality of life for all Illinois families. While Republicans will always support lower taxes, here is what the Supermajority thinks taxpayers deserve:
$1 Billion in Tax Hikes
The progressive Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly voted to implement a massive $53.1 billion spending plan for FY25. Furthermore, the budget is a staggering $2.6 billion more than last year’s enacted budget. This year’s budget is a slap-in-the-face to taxpayers: $1 billion for non-citizens = $1 billion in tax hikes
Illinois families are struggling to make ends meet and the prices for goods and services are at an all-time high, thanks to Biden, and Pritzker said the “future is bright,” but that obviously holds no truth.
Tax Increases
$526 million increase due to a change in net operating losses for Illinois businesses
$101 million increase in capped retailers’ discount
$200 million increase in the sports wagering tax
