Rep. Miller’s House Bill Passes General Assembly Unanimously

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Springfield, IL…Yesterday, the Illinois House of Representatives voted 106-0 in support of Senate Bill 3405. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) is the Chief Sponsor of the bill and says the bill will help people who struggle with addictions or PTSD.

“This legislation will provide people with transportation who need to visit problem-solving courts for counseling or classes,” said Rep. Miller. “Substance abuse and PTSD are challenges to address in Illinois, and this bill will help improve these areas of treatment. People that need help and more support will have it under SB3405.”

SB3405 allows counties to use funds by law or ordinance for transportation purposes to fund rides for individuals who wish to visit a problem-solving court in Illinois, specifically Coles County. Individuals will be better served by an improved system that addresses challenges in more rural areas across Illinois.

There are 24 proponents on the bill, and it is now ready for the Governor’s signature to become law.
