The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) is thrilled to announce the fifth year of the “Fall Covers for Spring Savings” Program for farmers. Pre-enrollment begins December 4th and applicants can submit their request once the program opens on December 15th.
A total of 140,000 acres are available for the 2024 program on a first come, first serve basis. Farmers are encouraged to apply sooner than later as acreage allotment was met in under 24 hours in 2023.
This program was designed to promote additional acres of cover crops that are not covered by federal incentives.
