Rep. Miller’s Newsletter (9/2/23)

At a time in our nation’s history when hard work is being devalued and even discouraged, it is important to stand up for and applaud those who refuse to submit to this sad trend!

THERE IS TREMENDOUS DIGNITY IN WORK

One person who is putting his efforts behind his words is Mike Rowe. You may know him best for his popular television show ‘Dirty Jobs’, but now he has started an inspirational foundation that shines a spotlight on the reality that there is more to a successful life than an expensive 4-year university degree.

Here is an excerpt from his mission statement:

We’ve made work the enemy.

America has become slowly but undeniably disconnected from the most fundamental elements of civilization—food, energy, education, and the very nature of work itself.

Over the last 30 years, America has convinced itself that the best path for the most people is an expensive, four-year degree. Pop culture has glorified the “corner office job” while unintentionally belittling the jobs that helped build the corner office. As a result, our society has devalued any other path to success and happiness.

The Greedy Grab Never Ends

Assign whatever dollar amount you want to it, if it’s YOUR money or your family’s hard-earned money, the government has no right to just take it from you. PERIOD.

If you receive an inheritance of any kind, you can be sure that your loved one has already paid taxes on it- AT LEAST ONCE.

The estate/inheritance tax discussion will be coming up again during the Illinois General Assembly’s Fall Veto Session, and you can be sure I will have your back!

State Rep. Chris Miller, R-Charleston, told The Center Square that the tax should be eliminated altogether.  “The first option would be to abolish the estate tax. We pay taxes our whole life while we are living, and the first thing that happens when you die is they want to tax your cold, dead body,” Miller said.

Convicted Madigan Henchman Still Hauling In A Hefty Paycheck

And there’s a good chance he’ll keep collecting that money.

Illinois’ lenient pension laws (gee, wonder who passed those?) generally require a direct connection to a crime that happened during a public employee’s official duties before a pension can be halted. But Timothy Mapes’ lies to a federal grand jury came nearly three years after he was forced by Former House Speaker Michael Madigan to resign, so the Illinois pension laws likely won’t apply.

Silence!

When Governor Pritzker signed Senate Bill 1909 in July, he and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office deemed pregnancy care centers as vehicles for promoting unfair practices and deception.

Their goal is to completely shut them down.

Now, Pritzker is playing dumb and washing his hands of the tyrannical move claiming ‘I am not the one who takes [this] on. [This] is the job of the Attorney General.’

Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon joined Greg Bishop of WMAY radio to talk about the Governor’s attack on free speech and why the federal courts took such a strong stand against Illinois’ new law policing abortion speech:

The ‘Fight’ Of The Upcoming Veto Session

With a new school year underway for students in schools across Illinois, some attending a private school using scholarships from the Invest in Kids program could be left in limbo unless lawmakers take action during the Illinois General Assembly’s Fall Veto Session to continue the program.

Public school statistics from the Illinois State Board of Education show dismal statewide average proficiency levels of 30% for English/language arts, 26% for math and 50% for science. Thirty-percent of eighth graders are passing Algebra 1. Statistics are even more shameful in places like Rockford, Decatur and Elgin.

Shunning his leadership responsibilities and showing no regard for suffering students and families, Governor Pritzker said extending Invest in Kids is up to the legislature.

No doubt Pritzker’s allegiance to the teachers unions is really his top priority.

Who Brags About Failure?

Governor Pritzker Does.

While Illinoisans are suffering under J.B. Pritzker’s progressive regime, he’s running around pretending that their FAILED policies are actually working.

Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski joined Decatur radio’s (WZUS) Jeff Daly for a reality check:

WOW.

When anyone tries to tell you that you’re being hysterical about the Left’s extremism, think again. Mayor Brandon Johnson has now distorted history by declaring August 30th ‘Chairman Fred Hampton Day’ in Chicago.

Who is Fred Hampton, you ask? He is being honored for his commitment to fighting for ‘racial and economic equality’ when, in fact, he was the deputy chairman of the national Black Panther Party’s Illinois chapter that advocated for a violent Marxist revolution.
