SPRINGFIELD… Wednesday afternoon, federal prosecutors announced the indictment of former Illinois Speaker of the House Michael J. Madigan. In response, State Representative Chris Miller (R-Oakland) offered the following reaction:
“We have long known that Illinois has a problem of corruption and that the root of that corruption was Michael J. Madigan. With today’s announcement by federal prosecutors, the schemes of former Speaker Madigan can finally come to light. But we also know it doesn’t stop there. Others enabled Madigan. It is my hope that investigators follow through to the fullest extent of the law free Illinois from this dark cloud that hangs above us all.”
