Miller: JCAR Ruling a Win for Students

SPRINGFIELD…Tuesday afternoon, a meeting of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) met to vote on the latest version of COVID-19 mitigation rules for K-12 schools. The committee voted 9-0 to suspend the rules and prevent them from going into effect. In response, State Representative Chris Miller (R-Oakland) offered the following statement:

“The anti-science Democrats, led by the Illinois Department of Public Health, once again attempted to keep masks on your children’s faces. No matter the fact that masking does little to nothing to stop the spread of COVID and that children are the least likely to catch and transmit the virus. No, what DPH attempted to do was to continue Governor Pritzker’s reign of tyranny by trying to control you and your family’s life. I applaud the nine members of JCAR for standing up to this outrageous attempt to literally muzzle your children. As it stands, both the courts and the legislature have now dealt blows to Governor Pritzker. I believe we are beginning to see the end of the Governor’s tyranny, but we must continue to fight.”
