SPRINGFIELD… State Representative Chris Miller (R-Oakland) issued a statement following Governor Pritzker’s State of the Budget address:
“Once again, Governor Pritzker proves he cannot be trusted. Today’s proposal includes close to $1 billion in new taxes on small businesses in Illinois. At the same time, he is choosing to back out of all but one of the agreed-upon business reforms my colleagues negotiated just two years ago. We knew coming in that the Governor would need to fill the hole he left us in with the failure of his progressive income tax. Instead of offering real cuts and reforms, the governor is choosing to haphazardly raise taxes on Illinois businesses while ignoring the changes in spending required for fiscal accountability. Illinois families, already hurting from COVID-19, will be further hurt by this reckless approach to governing.”
