The 2019 Visitors Guide recently published by the IllinoiSouth Tourism features on the front cover of the “MADE in ILLINOISouth” magazine the World’s Largest Rocking Chair made in Casey in the 110th District. We are proud of our Largest Rocking Chair that is on display across from the World’s Largest Wind Chime.
This rocking chair, which was completed on Aug. 25, 2015, is 56 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs 46,200 pounds. It beats the previous Largest Chair (42 feet, 1 inch tall) in Fanning, Missouri, which held the record for over seven years.
Casey is the home of many of the world’s largest objects. They are mostly constructed using wood salvaged from old telephone poles, are on display throughout the town. A full time master carpenter, employed by a local trucking firm, does most of the woodwork. Learn more at www.cityofcaseyil.org.
