Legislative Hearings Begin: Rep. Miller Reminds Citizens to Voice Their Views on Bills that Impact their Children and Grandchildren

Rep. Chris Miller announced that this morning there is a key piece of legislation being considered in the Illinois House HB 246 that would require schools to teach the contributions of transgender, bisexual and homosexuals in history.

“You have the opportunity and the right to voice your opinion on all legislation that is introduced in the General Assembly,” said Rep. Chris Miller, a member of the Elementary & Secondary Education: School Curriculum and Policies Committee. “If this bill becomes law it will force public schools to teach Kindergarten through twelfth graders the roles of transgenders, bisexuals and homosexuals pertaining to history.”

The House Committee hearing is this morning at 10:00 a.m. and anyone who wishes to be heard on this or any other legislation should go online to http://my.ilga.gov/ and submit a witness slip in favor of or opposition to the legislation.
